How to play 13 cards Indian rummy
Rummy is a popular card game that you can play with two decks of cards having a total of two jokers. The players have to pick and discard cards from both the two piles in front of them. One of the two decks is a closed one, where the players aren’t allowed to look at the card that they are picking. The other deck is an open one made by the cards discarded by other players. Players need to group cards in a valid set and sequence in order to win the game. Learn from online rummy games, but first get to know a few basics from here.
The basic rules of playing Indian rummy
The cards in every suit in rummy can be ranked high to low starting with King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and Ace. Ace can be used as face value or one while forming a set. King, Queen, Jack, and Ace have ten points each, where the rest of the cards are marked on their face value. So, the card 5 will have five points.
As mentioned before, you will have to get the thirteen cards arranged a valid set and sequence to win in online rummy games. You will need to have at least two sequences for winning the game. Out of these two sequences, one has to be a pure one and the other can be any valid set or sequence. A valid declaration of winning cannot be made without having a pure sequence. This is the single most important rule of Indian rummy. After you are done making the set or sequence, make a declaration and become the winner.
Forming sequences to win rummy
Three or more consecutive cards in one suit is termed as a sequence in rummy. Given below is the detailed explanation of the two common types of sequences:
Pure sequence:
Online rummy games have the same rules as the offline ones in terms of pure and impure sequences. A pure sequence is the one where a group of at least three of more cards from the same suit are put in consecutive order. A wild card or joker can never be used for forming a pure sequence. For instance, 5, 6, and 7 of hearts or 3, 4, 5, and 6 of spades are both considered as pure sequences.
Impure sequence:
An impure sequence has a group of at least three cards or more from the same suit with one or more wild cards being used in it. So, think of sequence like 6, 7, Q, and 9, where Q is the spade and the rest are diamonds. Here, Q works as a wild card to replace the diamond of 8 and form an impure sequence.
Forming sets to win a game of rummy
Online rummy games can be won using sets, as well. A set refers to a group of three or more cards that have the same value but not the same suit. You are allowed to use jokers and wild card to form sets.
For instance, suppose you make three Aces of hearts, spades, and diamonds. Though these Aces are from different suits, they make a valid set. But, you are not allowed to use two or more cards from the same suit to make a set. As such, you cannot take three Qs, where two are of diamonds and the remaining one is of diamonds.
